Monthly Mission - Tidy Up and Think Ahead
Introduction
I can’t believe it’s the end of the year and we’ve been organizing together for 12 months! Is your home showcase ready? That’s OK, mine isn’t. My home is VERY lived in. But underneath the signs of daily living, the beds are made, the bills are paid and filed, the dishes and laundry are done and most things (not all) have a place to be put when they’re not being used.
I hope that you’ve made some progress over the last year and that you’ll continue to stick by and keep tackling small areas at a time to whittle down the clutter in our homes. Remember, we’re not looking for perfection, just progress.
As the new year begins, I will continue to refer back to the monthly missions in my newsletters as a friendly reminder to declutter and organize. I’m sure I mentioned before that getting organized is not a one time thing. You won’t become organized overnight. It’s a lifestyle change and is something that needs to be practiced regularly until it feels more natural. And even then, you need to continue on with your new routines to keep things organized.

Monthly Mission – Tidy Up and Think Ahead
I’m not really one for New Year’s resolutions. But I do love to make lists and last year I made some lists of things I wanted to complete in the year. These included things like books I wanted to read, movies I wanted to see, seminars I wanted to attend, etc. Nothing high pressure or with a due date. And certainly nothing like “I will keep my home perfectly organized” because that would simply set me up for failure.
December’s Monthly Mission is rather simple since we’re all quite busy during this month. We should spend some time tidying up the rooms in our homes. This will not only help us to keep organized, but will certainly help if you have house guests coming over, or just to give you a little peace of mind to relax while you’re home enjoying the holidays.
The other thing I suggest you do for the month is to think ahead to the new year. Make that list of things you’d like to do next year. Also think about what areas of your home you’d like to focus on in terms of getting organized.
